Warm Up America (WUA)

This US-based non-profit's mission is committed to motivating, training and coordinating volunteers to knit and crochet afghans for people in need. WUA blankets are distributed to individuals and families through community service organizations as well through chapters of national organizations such as the American Red Cross.

Alpha Xi aims to join this mission with knitted and crocheted blanket squares donated by ΑΔΠ sisters. Volunteers at WUA will sew the squares together into blankets and distribute them to those in need, such as women’s shelters, nursing homes, children’s hospitals, and American Red Cross chapters. 

First Hope

A non-profit located in Turkey, First Hope addresses the needs of Syrian  and other refugee children who live in dire conditions. Refugees cannot legally be employed and the government has cut funds for refugees leaving many families struggling to met their basic needs. First Hope also works with Red Crescent (Red Cross) to distribute aid.

Through First Hope, Alpha Xi aims to bring a little relief to refugee children by providing much-needed hygiene and school supplies kits. Items as simple as a bar of soap and toothpaste or some pencils and a notebook are gold to families that can’t afford food for their children
